PresentationAt the crossroads of painting and photography, Philippe Berthier offers a rich artistic world in technical experiments
A native of Maine et Loire, Philippe Berthier is an entirely self-taught creator of images. Always attracted by the image he works photographic techniques since the 90s reign In his works a dark and lyrical atmosphere that overwhelms us and leaves us more.
Landing at Montpellier in 1993, it made many artistic encounters: musicians, actors, painters, photographers ? Coming from different backgrounds, these artists allow Philippe to experience shooting in serving as models and event events such as concerts, carnivals or cabarets, make him gain experience in the lab photo processing. In 1997, he directed a group exhibition on the settled Gypsy population of Lunel. A first common experience very rewarding for the creator of images and which finds its footprint in his works.
But it is primarily his meeting with Serge Gal, renowned photographer, which earned him a real awareness about its approach to the image and design capabilities. Drawing inspiration from impressionists, surrealists and the Baltic photographers; it is from 1998 that finally gives free rein to his creativity. So he develops his personal aspirations while continuing to exhibit collectively.
Their images exude such power of emotion it was obvious that my new images would be marked forever.
It was at this time that he experimented with various designs and techniques that particular discovered the collage media.
Like an alchemist in his den,
Philippe uses all sorts of materials and considers his laboratory as a true place of artistic experiences. There, his friends open a new perspective him by teaching him to use computer tools (computer, software, scanners etc.) and digital gradually takes its place in the work of Philippe. Then combining film and graphics, he realizes that awaits him endless creative possibilities. Using nature for inspiration and composing, so he mixed the two processes since 2004 to create his own gallery.
Now based in Lourdes, has recently exposed to Bayonne, and his work promises many more to come exhibitions, we will certainly monitor.
